NEW YORK (AP)- Donald Trump has tapped Stephen Miller, a longtime adviser with hardline views on immigration, as the deputy chief of policy in his next administration.

Vice President-elect JD Vance tweeted his confirmation Monday on X, formerly Twitter, calling the pick "another great pick by the president." CNN was the first to report the news.

Miller was a senior adviser during the first term of Trump, and his fingerprints are on many of the president's policies-most notably the 2018 policy of separating immigrant families as a means to deter others from entering the country.

As the chief architect of some of Mr. Trump's most hard-line rhetoric and proposals on immigration, Miller has remained active in the conservative world since the former president left office. Now, he runs America First Legal, a group founded by former Trump advisers styling itself as a conservative answer to the American Civil Liberties Union. It has sued the Biden administration, media companies, universities, and more over issues including freedom of speech, religion, and national security. See More:
